Consumer protection law enforcement agencies respect traditional legal boundaries—but those engaged in cross-border fraudulent or deceptive commercial conduct affecting consumers don't. Therefore a high level of cooperation is crucial to effectively combat this conduct. In 2002–03 the ACCC has the ICPEN (International Consumer Protection and Enforcement Network) presidency to raise the profile of global consumer protection.
