Aboriginal Affairs Victoria

Description

Aboriginal Affairs Victoria (AAV) provides advice to the Victorian Government on Aboriginal policy, planning and delivers key programs. AAV works in partnership with Indigenous communities, government departments and agencies to promote knowledge, leadership and understanding about Victoria’s Indigenous people. From administering legislation that protects Aboriginal cultural heritage, to generating job opportunities in tourism and land management, AAV invests in building skills, leadership and capacity within communities and organisations to improve the lives of Indigenous Victorians. AAV plays a lead role in establishing the Indigenous representative arrangements and structure in Victoria, further strengthening Victoria’s Aboriginal communities. AAV works closely with the Secretariat to the Ministerial Taskforce on Aboriginal Affairs on the Victorian Indigenous Affairs Framework.
