The IAA is a professional body representing the actuarial profession in Australia by creating, expanding and maintaining an environment where the skills of actuaries are widely used and valued. IAA establishes and maintains professional standards for the protection of public policy, and has an independent disciplinary scheme that handles complaints relating to the actuarial profession. Actuaries apply their mathematical expertise, statistical knowledge, economic and financial analyses and problem solving skills to wide range of practical business problems.
