The Commission is the primary economic regulator of essential utility services in Victoria. We regulate certain services in the electricity, gas, water and sewerage, ports, rail, export grain handling, statutory insurance and transport sectors. Our role differs for each regulated industry but generally involves regulating prices, service standards, market conduct and consumer protection. We investigate and advise the Government on regulatory matters that affect Victoria's essential services. We also administer the Victorian Renewable Energy Target Scheme.
