Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations,(DEEWR)
Description
DEEWR is a policy department, responsible to the Commonwealth Government for policy in relation to employment, workplace relations and small business issues. Its recommended policy can be translated into legislation by the Comm. Govt. In addition to legislative services, DEEWR also administers programs which provide funding to assist small business. These programs include the National Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS), the Small Business Enterprise Culture Program (SBECP) and the Regional Assistance Program (RAP) in conjunction with Area Consultative Committees (ACC's). Responsibility for the policy in relation to Unconscionable Conduct and Franchising (Franchising Code of Conduct) belongs to DEEWR, whilst the policy for other Trade Practices Act matters belongs to Treasury. DEEWR's website has a list of publications about workplace agreements, National Codes of Practice for specific industries, guides to employer's rights, etc. DEEWR has offices in all Australian States and Territories and contact details for each office are available from DEEWR's website.
