The Dental Board deals with complaints relating to professional misconduct and infection control. The Board, under the Health Practitioners (Professional Standards) Act 1999, is empowered to investigate complaints received about Queensland registered Dentists, Dental Specialists and Dental Auxiliaries. To lodge a complaint, it is necessary to provide the Board with written details. The Board may be required under section 51 of the Health Practitioners (Professional Standards) Act 1999 to refer the matter initially to the Health Quality and Complaints Commission (the Commission). The Commission may refer the matter back to the Board for investigation if the Board and the Commission decide that professional standards have been compromised.
