The ACCC has issued a final determination enabling the Australian Energy Market Operator Limited (AEMO) to continue to operate Chapter 5 and Chapter 6 of version 6 of the Retail Market Procedures (RMP) and the associated deeds. The RMP and associated deeds are the rules under which the gas retail market systems are operated in Western Australia.

Chapters 5 and 6 of the rules have been authorised since 2004 and AEMO is proposing to continue to operate the rules on substantially the same terms as they were previously authorised.

The ACCC considers that these provisions of the rules will continue to contribute to the efficient operation of the Western Australian retail gas market.

The ACCC has granted re-authorisation for a further 10 years.

Further information about the ACCC’s final determination and AEMO’s application for re-authorisation is available on the ACCC’s public register at: Australian Energy Market Operator.
